Local Laws

Local Law No. 3 of 1986 With Revisions - The title of this law shall be “The Animal Control Law of the Town of Westerlo.”

Local Law No. 1 of 2006 - A Local Law in relation to the maximum exemption allowable for the alternative veterans' exemption from real property taxation.

Local Law No. 1 of 2007 - Local Law creating the Town of Westerlo Planning Board, consisting of 5 (five) members, one of which shall serve as chairman thereof.

Local Law No. 2 of 2007 - A local law establishing a moratorium on major subdivisions within the Town of Westerlo (as the same is defined in the Town of Westerlo Land Subdivision Regulation approved on July 5, 1977) for a period of 18 months from the effective date hereof.

Local Law No. 3 of 2007 - Local Law to impose a local license fee and redemption fee for dogs.

Local Law No. 1 of 2008 - The purpose of this Local Law is to adopt tax exemptions for Cold War veterans as authorized by Chapter 655 of the Laws of New York for 2007, as amended by Chapter 6 of the Laws of New York for 2008.

Local Law No. 2 of 2008 - A local law amending Local Law No. 2 of 2004, which granted the real property exemption authorized by Real Property Tax Law section 459-c to certain persons with disabilities.

Local Law No. 1 of 2010 - A local law to amend Local Law #3 of 1986, “The Animal Control Law of the Town of Westerlo”, to replace the term “dog control officer” with “dog warden”, to include a licensing provision, and to amend the existing licensing fees for dogs.

Local Law No. 1 of 2011 - A local law to amend Local Law #2 of 1992, the “Solid Waste Management Code”, by amending the definition of “Recyclable Materials” and the ownership thereof, and adding the definition of “Reusable Items” and the disposal thereof.

Local Law No. 2 of 2011 - A local law to amend Local Law No. 1 of 2008 to provide for increased tax exemptions for Cold War Veterans.

Local Law No. 3 of 2011 - A local law to override the tax levy limit established in General Municipal Law 3-c

Local Law No. 1 of 2012 - A local law entitled "Unsafe Buildings, Collapsed Structures and Burned Out Buildings" to supersede an undated Ordinance titled "Unsafe Buildings and Collapsed Structures Ordinance of the Town of Westerlo, Albany County, New York, Pursuant to the Authority Contained in Section 130, Subdivision 16, of the Town Law of the State of New York".

Local Law No. 2 of 2012 - A local law establishing a one year moratorium on applications, approvals and/or drilling for natural gas, including but not limited to the process known as “high volume hydraulic fracturing” in the Town of Westerlo. Revised 8/28/2012

Local Law No. 1 of 2013 - A local law extending the existing moratorium on applications, approvals and/or drilling for natural gas, including but not limited to the process known as “high volume hydraulic fracturing” in the Town of Westerlo for an additional twelve (12) months.

Local Law No. 2 of 2013 - A local law to amend Local Law No. 1 of 2005, the “Town of Westerlo Water Use Law” by adding new section 804, “Water Board”

Local Law No. 1 of 2014 A local law extending the existing moratorium on applications, approvals and/or drilling for natural gas, including but not limited to the process known as “high volume hydraulic fracturing” in the Town of Westerlo for an additional twelve (12) months. Posted July 30, 2014

Local Law No. 1 of 2015 A local law to repeal Local Law No. 2 of 1989, “Flood Damage Prevention Local Law”, and enact a new Local Law for Flood Damage Prevention as authorized by the New York State Constitution, Article IX, Section 2, and Environmental Conservation Law, Article 36

Local Law No. 1 of 2016 Water Rents and Charges

Local Law No. 2 of 2016 A local law to amend Local Law No. 1 of 1989 and all subsequent amendments, the “Town of Westerlo Zoning Law”, by replacing portions of Sections 9.20 and 10.30 with new sections

Local Law No. 1 of 2017 A Local Law to amend Local Law #1 of 1989 (as revised and amended thereafter) to modify Article 6 by adding additional definitions pertaining to Solar Energy Systems; modify Articles 8.40 and 8.50 to refer to the requirements of the new Article 18, Solar Energy Systems; add a new Article 18. Solar Energy Systems; and renumber the remaining existing Articles in Local Law #1 of 1989 (as revised and amended).
